Easy Homemade Cheese Sauce

Cheese Sauce is not just for kids.  My husband loves cheese in all of its forms and so I developed this recipe for him to use on vegetables, chicken, whatever strikes his fancy. 

I am a person who likes easy and fast and this Cheese Sauce fits that bill.  It comes together in minutes and is very good.  

We live in an RV and have an RV stove. I found out that my smallest pot falls through the gaps in the grate.  I found this out while making this sauce.  I got it all done, and then the pot fell through and spilled all over the stove.  It is easy to make but if spilled is second only to eggs to clean up. Still worth making.

My husband is a cheese lover, and this is how I came across this recipe.  It is a fast and easy cheese sauce recipe and he loves it.  He uses it on his vegetables, chicken, and potatoes. Ingredients

1 Tablespoon Butter

1 Tablespoon Flour

¾ Cup Milk

¾ Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Pinch of Cayenne (optional)

Salt and Pepper (optional)

Directions

1. In a small pot, over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour and cook, whisking continually, until flour is lightly golden brown, about 2 minutes.

2. Slowly pour in milk, whisking out any lumps as they form. Continue to whisk the mixture until it is thick and bubbly, 3 to 4 minutes.

3. Remove from heat, stir in the cheese a handful at a time until all the cheese has been used and the sauce is smooth and creamy.  Add cayenne, salt and pepper if desired. 

4. Serve immediately.
