Press Sugar Cookies

My mom made these for years.  They are little cookies and very colorful and fun. They look great on a tray.  I still use my Mom’s cookie press and it is ancient.  I have seen the new cookie presses but have not purchased one yet.  Somehow I feel like it would be a betrayal of the ancient cookie press I use.

My daughters both love these little cookies.  During the Pandemic I made a batch, packed them in a sherbert container and shipped them to California, where both of my daughters were living during the Pandemic.

The cookies keep really well if wrapped and kept in an air-tight container. They can be packed and shipped, made ahead and frozen. I dye the dough with gel colors and sometimes to one color cookies but at others do multi-colored cookies.  It is a very versatile dough. I make these for Christmas trays, at Easter, in the fall too.  They are beautiful little cookies.

My Mom made these for us for years and years.  They are little cookies in shapes that are made by a cookie press.  I have my Mom’s old cookie press but know they make new ones that are much better than the ancient one that I use. I don’t know why I have never bought one.  Maybe I will now.
