BIRTHDAY CHOCOLATE CAKE

This is the best chocolate cake recipe I have ever tried.  It is also a very simple recipe to make.  Even a novice baker could make this cake and impress everyone. I mean, who doesn’t like chocolate cake? I mean, there may be a few folks.

Actually, I am not a big fan of cake but was forced to make them as I could bake everything else, even pastry and candy. So they assumed I could make cake.  They were wrong. I kept getting asked to make cakes so I took a year and learned.  Now I can create cakes of any flavor as it is science, and I get science. That was long ago.  Now I have made wedding cakes and birthday cakes, graduation cakes and cake just for cake’s sake.

I encourage you to try this cake.  Valentine's day is coming up after all and this chocolate cake with a stabilized strawberry whipped cream filling is sure to make the one you love feel loved.

I am a scratch baker. With the exception of one cake that is from mix and then fixed way up. This chocolate cake recipe is one of the easiest and best chocolate cakes. It is truly chocolatey. A scratch cake for a less experienced baker. It is my go-to chocolate cake.

INGREDIENTS

1 teaspoon Baking Soda

½ teaspoon Baking Powder

¾ Cups Buttermilk

2 Eggs

4 oz. Unsweetened Chocolate, melted

1 teaspoon Salt

¾ Cups Water

½ Cup Shortening

1 teaspoon Vanilla

2 Cups Flour

2 Cups Sugar

INGREDIENTS

  1. Prepare cake pans or cupcake tins.

  2. Measure all ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Blend ½ miinute on low speed. Beat on high speed for 3 minutes, scraping the bowl occasionally. Pour into prepared pans.

  3. Bake at 350 degrees F for 12 to 14 minutes for cupcakes, 24 to 30 for cake depending on how deep the pans are.  Put on a cooling rack to cool completely.

NOTE

I make a batch and one half of this to fill two nine-inch pans and a 9X13 sheet pan. I batch makes 24+ standard sized cupcakes.
